RFQ for Data Center Virtualization Hardware

The San Joaquin Valley Library System released an RFQ for data center virtualization hardware. SJVLS provides its members with shared infrastructure for library services, telecommunications, and other IT services. This includes managing a Wide Area Network, connecting our libraries to the data center located in Fresno, providing shared services such as our Office365 subscription, email services, firewalls and network security, and hosting and maintaining the shared Integrated Library System (ILS) used by all libraries to catalog and circulate materials to patrons.

Much of our IT infrastructure runs in a virtualized environment, making server management efficient and easier for SJVLS staff. The hardware that provides our virtualization environment for the ILS is due to be replaced, and we are soliciting bids for replacement hardware.

SJVLS is seeking proposed solutions that detail a comprehensive, enterprise-scale converged infrastructure intended to replace our current data center hypervisor servers and storage. The solution will be used to provide new production operating environment resources, as well as resources for other segregated environments such as for development, testing, and staging. The response should include pricing for one or more of the following features:

  • Server and storage architecture
  • Expandable design allowing for future growth

Optionally, we are also seeking solutions for one or more of the following components:

  • Virtualization software and licensing
  • Ongoing maintenance costs and considerations
