The San Joaquin Valley Library System is governed by an Administrative Council made up of the directors from each of the member libraries, which operates under the authority of the Joint Powers Agreement and current by-laws.
The primary decision-making body for SJVLS and approves the budget, planning documents, and contracts. It meets bimonthly with special meetings as needed. The Administrative Council is supported by an Automation Committee and an Electronic Resources Committee.
Oversees joint software and hardware purchases, including the integrated library system. It sets policies for use of shared systems and for the data network. It meets bimonthly, or more frequently if necessary.
Electronic Resources Committee
Manages the shared digital subscriptions of SJVLS and makes recommendations on database and digital collection purchases. The Committee is also tasked with tracking emerging technologies that affect how library customers access those digital collections.
Meetings of SJVLS Administrative Council and committees are subject to California's Brown Act.
