Friends of the Tulare City Library

Friends of the Tulare City Library, founded in 1996, is a not-for-profit organization active in the volunteer and financial assistance of the Tulare Public Library. The purpose of this association is to maintain an association of persons interested in books and libraries; to focus attention on library services, facilities and needs; and to stimulate gifts of books, magazines, desirable collections, endowments, and bequests. Currently a small group, the Friends of the Library support the various educational children's and teen programs that the Tulare Public Library holds free of charge to the public.

Membership in this association is open to all individuals in sympathy with its purposes, and to organizations and clubs when representation in the association is desired, in which case dues shall be paid by the organization. Interested parties may pick up a membership form at the Tulare Public Library or download a form from this web page below.

Every first Saturday of each month the Friends of the Tulare City Library organize and conduct book sales. Books are organized by genre, of which three or four different ones are present in each sale. The Friends of the Tulare City Library also hold a Vintage Book Sale every year. Vintage refers to books that are 50 years or older. Current prices are:

$3.00 per bag for Vintage Books

Focusing their attention on library services, volunteers take library card applications to various Tulare schools for ever kindergarten child. In addition, Homebound Delivery Service is available for those disabled people who cannot make it to the library but would still like to borrow library materials. To sign up for this service a form may be picked up a the Tulare Public Library or downloaded from this web page below.

Furthermore, the Friends of the Tulare City Library, along with the Tulare READ program, help present a monthly Third Thursday Event for the public. Interested parties may contact the Tulare Public Library at (559) 685 - 2341 for more information about these events. Free refreshments are provided along with each of the diverse events.
