How to Get a Library Card
To obtain a library card, patrons must present a picture ID, verify current address, and complete a library card application. Patrons younger than 18 years old may be issued a library card if their parent or legal guardian agrees to be the responsible party and completes a library card application. A library card application may be obtained at the Tulare Public Library or may be downloaded from this website below.
Valid types of ID are Driver's License, CA ID, Passport, Consular ID, Military ID and High School ID.
- Your first card is free. If you lose your card, the replacement fee is $3.50 for adults and $1 for children. Please report lost or stolen cards immediately to avoid being held responsible for charges on your card.
- You may checkout to 15 items at a time. You may only check out 3 items per subject. You may re-new items over the phone.
- You can use this card at any public library between Kern County and Madera County.
- You must have your card present when checking out items or when using the Public Access Computers.
- Books, Books on Tape, and CDs checkout for 3 weeks. Magazines, videos, and DVDs checkout for 1 week. You can checkout up to 6 magazines at one time.
- You can checkout up to 3 videos, 3 CDs, and 3 DVDs at one time on your library card. These items must be returned inside the library to avoid any additional charges.
- The late charge for all library materials is 25 cents per item per day.
- You may return books and magazines in the book drop when the library is closed.
