Online Database Subscription Instructions for Member Libraries
Because online database subscriptions need to be authenticated in some manner, it is important to follow the instructions below when setting up your subscriptions.
In-Library use only databases
Database subscriptions which are for in-library use only are usually
authenticated by IP address. We use private IP addresses internally,
which are seen by the outside world as a small number of registered
public IP address. We are not assigned enough of these public IP
addresses to identify every server that needs a specific address
and every branch library. The registered public IP addresses are
assigned as follows:
| Coalinga | 66.122.165.193 |
| Huron | 66.122.165.194 |
| Fresno HQ/Central | 66.122.165.195 |
| Fresno Regional Clovis, Fig Garden, Politi, Sunnyside |
66.122.165.196 |
| Fresno other branches | 66.122.165.197 |
| Kern HQ/Beale | 66.122.165.201 |
| Kern Regional Northeast | 66.122.165.202 |
| Kern other branches | 66.122.165.203 |
| Kings HQ/Hanford | 66.122.165.207 |
| Kings Branches | 66.122.165.208 |
| Madera HQ/Madera | 66.122.165.210 |
| Madera Branches | 66.122.165.211 |
| Mariposa HQ/Main | 66.122.165.213 |
| Mariposa Branches | 66.122.165.214 |
| Porterville | 66.122.165.216 |
| Tulare Co. HQ/Visalia | 66.122.165.217 |
| Tulare Co. Branches | 66.122.165.218 |
| Tulare Public | 66.122.165.221 |
If a location does not have a specific IP address assigned to it, you cannot subscribe to a database just for that location if authentication is by IP address. There are a few spare registered IP addresses which are not reserved for servers, but assignment of those addresses must be negotiated with the Systems office. Because the iPrism Internet filtering servers have separate IP addresses which do not differentiate between SJVLS members, it is important that you set your public web browsers to not filter the URLs of your subscription databases.
