Technology Plan for July 1, 2001 - June 30, 2004
Strategic Goal #1
To promote resource sharing among SJVLS libraries, other libraries in the region and libraries participating in the Library of California.
Objective #1: Provide a seamless process between submission of the patron request and delivery of the item to the patron.
- Project 1.1.1. Implement RSS to extend the current seamless process of book requests within SJVLS to journal articles and requests to Library of California members and other non-SJVLS libraries.
- Project 1.1.2. Implement scan-to-e-mail technology at key resource libraries to speed delivery to sites with e-mail access but no fax machine.
Objective #2: Provide an accurate and complete catalog of member library holdings.
- Project 1.2.1. Improve serial holdings information through expanded use of the Dynix serials module
Objective #3: Incorporate Web-based resources into the ValleyCat online catalog.
Objective #4: Develop image databases to facilitate sharing of unique local history resources.
Objective #5: Simplify cross-database searching.
- Project 1.5.1. Develop ways to use Z39.50 clients such as Pac
for Windows, WebPAC, and others to search multiple databases.
