CALL TO ORDER AND INTRODUCTIONS

CODI REPORT -Codi attendees Laura Gardner, Mary Ellen Huls, Judy Hill, Keith Boettcher, and Ivan Edelman reported and commented about the workshops and information they received at the conference. There was discussion about some of the new services and upgrades available. Discussion about the statistical manager program will be placed on the next meeting agenda.

PROJECTS FOR DISCUSSION AND ACTION -

• Vista II - No discussion. The Reference Committee is doing research on this.
• WebPac - It's included in the contract. There was a question about whether SJVLS should wait for the Sun version. Kings County commented that an NT server will be needed soon. To be discussed in more detail later in the agenda.
• 170 Upgrade - ENS has been changing people who can't be reached by phone to mail. System staff are contacting Ameritech to correct this problem.

TRAINING NEEDS - Kern County is using a self-guided training program available on dumb terminals, and they send staff to training as needed. Fresno County will have a Training Center when the Gates program is in place, and it will also be made available to staff from member libraries. John said he doesn't date yet when the training will begin. Mike Drake is preparing an Internet training program for System staff. Mary Ellen asked for clarification on the areas of training for which the System is responsible and which training needs are the responsibility of individual jurisdictions. Tulare County felt the System should be able to advise members about the type of training they should have.

REQUEST FOR PRESENTATION ON MANAGEMENT NETWORK AND ASSET MANAGEMENT SERVICES -Mary Ellen will schedule a site visit to Long Beach and then a presentation will be scheduled.

STATUS REPORT -

• Phase III - Discussed.
• Linked Systems Grant - The Circulation Committee is working on implementation procedures for this project.

STATUS REPORTS RELATED TO PROJECTS WITH OTHER COMMITTEES -

• Catalog Committee - The next meeting will be on May 21st.
• Reference Committee - No report.
• Circulation Committee - The committee will be forwarding a request to the Administrative Council for custom programming related to the patron's birthday.

OTHER -

• NT Server - Web PAC and RSS. System needs to determine whether to get two less powerful NT servers as recommended by Mary Ellen, rather than one high powered one.
• Technology Plan - Mary Ellen distributed a copy of the 3 Year Technology Plan submitted as a part of the E-Rate applications.

ANNOUNCEMENTS - The next meeting will be held on July 22 in Visalia.
