Dynix security under PAC for Windows includes Windows 95 and Winshield. NetReady Pcs running Windows 95 Plans to upgrade the HP operating system, Universe, and Dynix software as necessary and in the proper order. b Cabling. Tulare Coo. will send a work order for cabling request to Al. Richard Licon can still do work for member libraries. c. Datacommunication Network. As we gradually go to Frame Relay, we will try to keep ISDN unless it is not cheaper than Frame Realy, or unless we need bandwidth greater than the 128K which ISDN provides. Mike Groll (ALS) is sending 5 T-1 CSU/DSUs to SJVLS. e. Training. Al listed the training needs sent to him. He has informed the Administrative Council of the training needs reported to him. A-2. Marchive project. Paula report that she is working on it. The current work needs to be done by SJVLS, not by Marchive. Paula also reported on other database cleanup work she is doing. A-3. Linked System Grant. Jeff Crosby is working on this. C. Vista. All reminded members that one way to improve Vista response time would be to have our own Frame Relay circuit to Provo. This is estimated to cost about $12,000 per year. Keith mentioned that the renewal date for Vista service is April. He has reminded System Reference staff of that date. D. There were no status reports related to projects with other committees. E. The Automation Office has received an advance version of the Ameritech Library Services Dynix Product Strategy Guide (January 1997). It will probably go to the Admin Council before the April 4 planning meeting. James Taylor of Ameritech Library Services will be at the April 4 meeting. E. System Staffing. There was some discussion of system staffing after Al's departure. Al mentioned three possibilities: 1) Use the same staff and have member libraries do more. 2) Change system staffing -- find the expertise we need. 3) Become a Dynix Automation Center - Let Dynix run the automated system. There was also discussion of administration of SJVLS and what options for change there might be there. The Committee voted to urge the Administrative Council to consider other options for governance of SJVLS. (Edelman move, Madera (Camille?) second F. The next meeting will be held on April 23, 1997 in Visalia.
