Madera County Library welcomes all patrons who comply with the following Rules of Conduct. We intend to maintain the library as a quiet, orderly and sanitary place so that our patrons can enjoy its materials and services. Therefore, we expect you to respect other patrons and the library’s property. Conduct that threatens, disrupts or interferes with other library users, or the library’s operation, is prohibited.
If you engage in any of the following acts on the library’s premises, you will be asked to stop. If you do not comply, you will be asked to leave.
Prohibited Activity:
• Loud talking, noisy or boisterous activities that interfere with, or are disruptive to, other patrons
• Giving speeches, promoting religious or political beliefs, or handing out literature in the library’s reading rooms
• Soliciting money
• Eating, drinking, smoking, or using mobile telephones
The following will result in a call for immediate police assistance
• Willfully damaging or unlawfully taking library property
• Engaging in unlawful sexual conduct
• Using or being under the influence of illegal drugs or alcoholic beverages
• Being in possession of weapons
• Leaving unattended any children who cannot care for themselves
In enforcing these Rules of Conduct, Madera County reserves the right to take any action that it deems necessary to exercise or preserve any of its rights and remedies under the law. This includes, but is not limited to, pursuing legal action for monetary damages against any patron who causes damage to or loss of Library property.
