About Us
On July 1, 2008, the Merced County Library became the tenth member of the San Joaquin Valley Library System. The addition of Merced brings the number of library outlets to 112.
San Joaquin Valley Library System (SJVLS)
Misson: The San Joaquin Valley Library System assists member libraries
to enhance service to their public through cooperation, resource sharing,
technology
and networking.
San Joaquin Valley Information Service (SJVIS)
The San Joaquin Valley Information Service is the reference branch of the SJVLS. SJVIS provides reference services to the public libraries of the SJVLS, and the member libraries of the Heartland Regional Library Network. These services include:
- Answering reference questions from member libraries.
- Library staff training.
- Creating online resources: SJVIS staff have been indexing their collections for over a decade. These indexes are available online at the "Libraries & Services" section.
